Theories on the Power of the "D" Clan

Imu and the Gorosei

Imu and the Gorosei: The Fear of Overwhelming Haki

Imu and the Gorosei are often portrayed as near-untouchable figures, ruling over the world from the shadows with nearly unmatched power and influence. But what if I told you their biggest weakness isn't some secret weapon or hidden army, but something much more subtle—extremely powerful Haki?

This was made crystal clear in Chapter 1122, when we witnessed an intense moment of fear from Imu. As Emeth unleashed Joy Boy's sealed Haki, Imu was seen crouching, trembling, and screaming in absolute terror. It was a rare and shocking sight—someone who controls the world from behind the scenes, brought to their knees by nothing more than the sheer force of Haki.

But it doesn’t stop there. The Gorosei, those five mysterious and powerful leaders, weren’t any less affected. After being struck by the overwhelming Conqueror’s Haki of Joy Boy, they had no choice but to retreat from Egghead Island back to Mariejois, seemingly unable to handle the power that was directed at them.

So, what’s going on here? Why are Imu and the Gorosei so terrified of a power like this?

The most logical explanation is that extremely strong Haki—particularly Conqueror’s Haki—might just be the one power capable of defeating them. While the Gorosei have immense strength and influence, and Imu controls the highest levels of the world’s power, all of that seems to fall short against the overwhelming might of Haki. It's not just a tool for combat; it's a manifestation of willpower, and that very will can shatter even the strongest defenses.

Imu’s fear and the Gorosei’s retreat show us just how vulnerable they are to this kind of power. For all their plotting and control, it seems that the true force capable of challenging their reign might be something as raw and elemental as the will to fight, embodied in the form of powerful Haki.
